{"id":628,"date":"2013-04-13T16:03:21","date_gmt":"2013-04-13T16:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/?p=628"},"modified":"2013-10-25T13:09:55","modified_gmt":"2013-10-25T13:09:55","slug":"how-not-to-use-qr-codes-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/how-not-to-use-qr-codes-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"How Not to Use QR Codes: Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of examples exist of QR code uses that just aren\u2019t very useful, or are really quite bad, and even some that are absolutely terrible.\u00a0 We will be looking at an example of the latter type in this blog.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes I wonder how a marketer or advertiser ever got their job when I see some of these QR code uses, it really is quite amazing.\u00a0 Take this example below; let\u2019s list the problems and their remedy.<a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/gfvhgfjf.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-629\" alt=\"gfvhgfjf\" src=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/gfvhgfjf.png\" width=\"498\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/gfvhgfjf.png 498w, https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/gfvhgfjf-300x162.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0No real call to action.\u00a0 Sure is says \u201cFind the Inn crowd\u201d, but does that mean you should scan the code to find the Inn\u2019s location?\u00a0 It\u2019s a bit confusing.\u00a0 To solve this make a clear and understandable call to action, in this example it might be \u201cscan the QR code to locate the nearest Inn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The size of the QR code.\u00a0 In order to scan a QR code your phone\u2019s camera needs to be able to see it clearly.\u00a0 This means that when you plan on using a QR code you MUST think about whether your potential consumer is going to be near or far away from your prospective print advertisement.\u00a0 In this case you know your customer is going to be very far off, so if you are going to still use a QR code it has to be huge, perhaps half the size of the billboard in this case.\u00a0 At some point though, it just might not be worth it.\u00a0 There is a time and place for QR codes; you need to figure out when and where that is.<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Death for the person who scans the code.\u00a0 This is rarely ever a problem you want to have.\u00a0 Your customer is driving along at 75 mph and sees the QR code on your billboard, he pulls out his smartphone, clicks on his QR code scanning app, takes both hands off the wheel and attempts to scan your small code, fifty yards off the highway\u2026things are not likely to end well.\u00a0 How to remedy this?\u00a0 Probably just refrain from putting QR codes on highway billboards. \u00a0\u00a0But if you must use this marketing strategy and wish to risk losing many customers to early deaths, at least make sure when they scan the code they are taken to a nice mobile optimized website and not your awful desktop site.\u00a0 A small courtesy for their few remaining seconds on earth.<\/p>\n<p>All you need to do to not appear on these sorts of blogs is to think before you decide to use a QR code.\u00a0 Make sure you have a good call to action, make sure you know where your customers will be in relation to your code when they will be scanning it, and make sure if they do scan your code their likelihood of death does not increase dramatically.<\/p>\n<p>To get started using QR codes make sure you check out our <a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/index.php?\/learning\/qr-code-best-practices\">best practices page<\/a>, and then check out our mobile website creation <a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/features\/mobile-website-builder\">platform<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/features\">everything else<\/a> Qfuse has to offer.\u00a0 Follow this and you\u2019ll have a tough time messing up your QR code campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Want more?
