{"id":487,"date":"2013-02-23T21:29:18","date_gmt":"2013-02-23T21:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/?p=487"},"modified":"2013-02-23T21:29:18","modified_gmt":"2013-02-23T21:29:18","slug":"qr-codes-drive-lego-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/qr-codes-drive-lego-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"QR Codes Drive Lego Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/mytoys-lego.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-490\" alt=\"mytoys-lego\" src=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/mytoys-lego-300x201.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/mytoys-lego-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/mytoys-lego.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Here is another QR code success story for you.\u00a0 MyToys.de is one of Germany\u2019s largest internet toy stores, and Legos are one of their largest product lines they offer.\u00a0 So MyToys.de had a task for their advertising department: Advertise Lego, but do it in a creative way that will draw interest, but also make this marketing campaign bring people to the website to increase online Lego sales specifically.<\/p>\n<p>Well if I were in MyToys.de\u2019s marketing or advertising department of course my initial thought would be to use QR codes, and that is most certainly what they did, but they did it is a far more creative way then most would have come up with (I guess that\u2019s why they are in marketing and I am not).<\/p>\n<p>What MyToys.de did was build large 3\u2019x3\u2019, colorful 3D QR codes.\u00a0 These codes were then placed all around Germany for passerby\u2019s to scan.\u00a0 Each code was different and had its own theme, containing some hard to recognize creative scene which could then be decoded upon scanning.\u00a0 The makeup of the codes drew people in and allowed MyToys.de to capitalized on their curiosity.<\/p>\n<p>Upon scanning of the code, the potential customer could decode the QR code\u2019s scene and\/or be directed to MyToys.de\u2019s desktop website (of course they should have been directed to a mobile optimized site and not a desktop site, if only someone had read about <a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/index.php?\/learning\/qr-code-best-practices\">QR code best practices<\/a> before they ran this campaign).\u00a0 From the desktop landing page particular Lego boxes were advertised and could be ordered right from there.<\/p>\n<p>The results were great.\u00a0 What this creative QR code campaign ended up doing was ensuring millions of Germans connected with and interacted with the Lego and MyToys.de brands in a fun way.\u00a0 Even more importantly the success of the QR codes were clearly visible by the fact that 49% of all traffic to the MyToys.de website were tracked from the QR code advertisements.\u00a0 This traffic helped drive sales for Lego, and in particular the Lego boxes advertised on the landing page people were directed to from the QR codes. In fact MyToys.de sold twice as many of these Lego boxes as opposed to the ones that were not advertised on the landing page.<\/p>\n<p>MyToys.de, with their Lego QR code campaign, is one of the rare companies using QR codes (for the most part) right, getting creative with their advertising, and using modern technology to connect with potential customers and drive sales.\u00a0 Any company that has traditional media and isn\u2019t using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qfuse.com\/\">QR codes<\/a> to creatively connect with their brand or merchandise is losing ground and more than certainly losing
