{"id":1069,"date":"2013-10-15T21:38:23","date_gmt":"2013-10-15T21:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/?p=1069"},"modified":"2013-10-15T22:41:34","modified_gmt":"2013-10-15T22:41:34","slug":"harpoon-rugged-maniac-and-qr-code-promotion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/harpoon-rugged-maniac-and-qr-code-promotion\/","title":{"rendered":"Harpoon, Rugged Maniac and QR code Promotion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1070\" alt=\"Harpoon\" src=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon-300x125.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon-300x125.png 300w, https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon.png 789w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A friend of mine attended the recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruggedmaniac.com\/home.html\">Rugged Maniac 5k obstacle<\/a> race in Southwick, MA and came across a perfect example of how QR codes can be used in event promotion and social engagement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.harpoonbrewery.com\/\">Harpoon Brewery<\/a>, in partnership with Rugged Maniac and Pintley, were able to use QR codes, social media, and cross promotion to advertise Harpoon beer and the Rugged Maniac 5k obstacle race.\u00a0 This was accomplished through a system of incentives, social media, and QR codes.<\/p>\n<p>First the event attendee was encouraged to scan a posted QR code that contained a call to action to scan the code and win a prize.\u00a0 Once the code was scanned the attendee was prompted to \u2018check in\u2019 what they were drinking.\u00a0 This took them to a Facebook page where they could select the particular Harpoon beer they were currently drinking and share it on their personal Facebook page.\u00a0\u00a0 They then showed the confirmation screen to one of the Harpoon hosts and received their prize right there on the spot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1071\" alt=\"Harpoon1\" src=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon1-300x125.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon1-300x126.png 300w, https:\/\/qfuse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Harpoon1.png 505w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>This is a fantastic approach to any sort of promotion generally and beverage promotion specifically, as it creates a great incentive to scan the QR code\u2014a prize that they can get on-site\u2014while also benefiting Harpoon from inexpensive yet high quality advertising through social media.\u00a0 But in addition to this, it creates engagement between attendees and Harpoon staff, increased brand exposure for Harpoon, the Rugged Maniac, and Pintley.\u00a0 And the best part about it is that it is easy, different, and fun for the attendees.<\/p>\n<p>It is these sorts of promotions that create an interactive and fun experience for the consumer, while also helping to increase brand awareness and create advertising possibilities through QR codes and social media that more companies and organizations need to start using.\u00a0 These are inexpensive tools and promotions that give a fantastic ROI and should not be underestimated.<\/p>\n<p>If you or your organization is thinking about using tools like QR codes of NFC in your future promotions be sure to check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/qfuse.com\/qr-code-features\">Qfuse platform here<\/a> for all of your possible needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A friend of mine attended the recent Rugged Maniac 5k obstacle race in Southwick, MA and came across a perfect example of how QR codes can be used in event promotion and social engagement.
